Electrical Contractor Insurance

Electrical contractors energize other people’s buildings. The file is general liability with real completed operations, an installation floater for gear sitting on a pad, commercial auto for the service vans, and a license bond that matches the state registration. Contractors E&O belongs on design-build and design-assist work.

We place licensed electrical shops across the ten states. Washington L&I remains the industrial-insurance home for WA-situs electricians; we place stop-gap and out-of-state WC, never a private replacement for L&I.

Risks we actually schedule

  • Completed-operations fire or shock claims after energization.
  • Switchgear and fixtures damaged on site before they become part of the building.
  • Service-van auto claims and stolen copper or tools.
  • License-bond and additional-insured demands from GCs and municipalities.

Frequently asked questions

Is an installation floater the same as builders risk?

No. Builders risk is the structure. The floater is your materials and gear until they are installed and interest passes. Many electrical jobs need the floater even when the owner bought builders risk.

Do we need contractors E&O?

If you design, design-assist, or stamp a shop drawing that someone follows, yes. Pulling wire to someone else’s plan is a different story — tell us which one you are.

Can you bond our CCB or WA registration?

Yes. License bonds are a normal companion to the GL file.
