Gift Shop Insurance
Gift and novelty shops live on peak seasons — summer coastal traffic, holiday retail, a downtown festival week. The property limit has to follow that peak, and the premises form has to follow a store that invites people to pick things up. Breakage, theft, and a small e-commerce cart are the everyday claims.
We place independent gift shops and souvenir stores, including those attached to attractions or hotels. If jewelry or fine art is a real part of the mix, we schedule it; we do not hide it inside “gifts.”
Risks we actually schedule
- Peak-season inventory undervaluation after a fire or pipe break.
- Shoplifting, smash-and-grab, and employee dishonesty.
- Customer injury in a tightly merchandised aisle.
- Off-premises festival or hotel-kiosk stock that was never floated.
Frequently asked questions
We are inside a hotel lobby. Whose insurance pays?
The hotel’s policy is not automatically yours. You need your own package and the additional-insured the concession agreement requires.
Do we need a floater for craft-fair weekends?
Yes, if the values are real. Off-premises extensions on a BOP are often small. We schedule a inland-marine limit for the season.
Are handmade goods covered at selling price?
Usually at your cost to recreate them, not full retail. Tell us about consignment goods — those may need bailee treatment.
