Highway Construction Insurance
Highway and heavy-civil work is not a preferred light-contractor class, and we keep the page because we already write it. Traffic-control liability, dump trucks, rented iron, and public-entity additional-insured wording are the file. A BOP will not do this job.
We place contractors who work roads, utilities in the right-of-way, and similar infrastructure. Washington L&I remains in place for WA-situs crews. We place stop-gap, private WC in competitive states, auto, equipment, and the GL form a DOT or county will actually accept.
Risks we actually schedule
- Third-party crashes alleged to involve your traffic control or a work zone.
- Dump-truck and trailer auto claims, including hired units.
- Rented and owned equipment on an unfenced alignment.
- Public-entity additional-insured and bond requirements that a standard certificate misses.
Frequently asked questions
Can you meet a state DOT insurance exhibit?
We read the exhibit and we tell you if the form will match. Some public additional-insured wording requires a manuscript or a different carrier. That conversation happens before the bid, not after the award.
Do we need an umbrella?
Most highway and municipal jobs do. Auto is the claim that uses it.
Is this the same as excavation insurance?
Related equipment and pollution stories, different traffic and public-entity story. If you do both, we write one contractor file with both operations described.
