Real Estate Agent and Brokerage Insurance
Real estate professionals need errors-and-omissions first. A missed disclosure, a deadline, or a dual-agency complaint is not a GL claim. The brokerage also needs a office package, cyber on transaction files and wiring instructions, and — if you employ staff — employment-practices.
We place commercial brokerages and teams. Property-management operations belong on that page as well; a brokerage that also manages commercial buildings should not hide the management receipts.
Risks we actually schedule
- E&O claims on disclosures, deadlines, and agency relationships.
- Business-email-compromise on earnest money or closing proceeds.
- Open-house premises claims that a personal policy will not cover.
- Employment and independent-contractor status disputes inside the shop.
Frequently asked questions
Does my personal umbrella cover an open house?
Do not count on it. Open houses and client showings are business. The brokerage E&O and GL should contemplate them.
We are all independent contractors. Whose E&O pays?
Usually the brokerage policy, with contractors scheduled or covered as the form allows. Individual agents may still need their own paper. We read the form and the independent-contractor agreement together.
Is cyber really a real-estate issue?
Wiring-instruction fraud is one of the most common small-commercial crime/cyber fact patterns we see. Yes.
