Landscaping Insurance

Landscape contractors run crews, trailers, and machines across other people’s property, and many apply fertilizers or pesticides that a standard GL pollution exclusion deletes. The file is contractor GL, a equipment floater, commercial auto, and a limited pesticide/herbicide/fertilizer grant or a real contractors-pollution form.

We place landscape installation and maintenance contractors. Lawn-care-only routes have their own page when that is truly all you do. Tree work above a certain height and hardscape/excavation need to be on the application.

Risks we actually schedule

  • Spray-drift and chemical claims the GL pollution exclusion will deny.
  • Damage to irrigation, utilities, or a customer’s hardscape.
  • Trailers, mowers, and skid steers stolen from a job or a yard.
  • Crew auto claims and L&I (WA) or private WC (other states) for field labor.

Frequently asked questions

Is a pesticide endorsement enough?

For many maintenance accounts, a limited pesticide/herbicide/fertilizer endorsement is the right tool. Larger commercial spray or chemical programs deserve a contractors-pollution form. We will not treat them as the same.

Are rented machines covered?

If we put a rented-equipment limit on the floater. The rental house waiver is not a substitute.

We also build retaining walls. Does that change the class?

Yes. Hardscape and excavation change GL eligibility. Tell us the split of receipts.
